The Public Health Associate Program (PHAP), a unique public health training program managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Center for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support, will open its 2021 application period January 20–27. PHAP is seeking exceptional recent college graduates interested in public health careers. Please share information about this opportunity with students and recent graduates.
PHAP is a two-year, competitive, paid training program. Associates gain broad, hands-on experience working in public health programs in state, tribal, local, and territorial public health departments; nongovernmental organizations; public health institutes and associations; academic institutions; and CDC quarantine stations.
There are numerous benefits to serving as an associate, including:
- Recognition as employees of the nation’s leading public health agency, with the salary and benefits of a term-limited, Title 5 employee
- Formal training in key public health competency areas, including seminars, workshops, web-based courses, and conferences to enhance basic public health program skills
- Unique experience in the day-to-day operations of public health programs, qualifying associates to convert to career positions with CDC or equivalent positions in other public health organizations
PHAP is open to recent college graduates with a minimum of a bachelor's degree (3.0 GPA or higher required). Candidates must be willing to accept a position in any of the 50 states or 5 US territories and relocate at their own expense, if necessary.
