*In May of 2020, Datavant collaborated with a consortium of leading healthcare companies to launch a COVID-19 Research Database. The COVID-19 Research Database https://covid19researchdatabase.org/ contains HIPAA-compliant, de-identified and limited, longitudinal, patient-level data sets from a consortium of institutions and organizations. It comprises a large, diverse repository of real-world data, including medical claims, pharmacy claims, electronic health records, and demographic data. To date, over 2500 researchers have signed up for the database platform, and over 200 studies are currently being conducted by research teams all over the world. *
*As part of our support for the COVID-19 Research Database, we participate in a couple of high profile research collaboratives. We are completing initial analyses and papers as part of these efforts. We are looking for an analyst with a background in public health data analysis and Python to join our team as a full or part time fellow (at least 30 hrs/week) to lead the analysis component of these collaborations for three months. *
*Responsibilities:*
*The most critical aspects of this role include:*
- *Completing data extraction, cleaning and analysis in the COVID-19
Research Database*
- *Collaborating with our PIs and wider project team on two separate
projects. This will include creating tables and written content for peer
reviewed papers*
- *Participate in presentations of analytic work products to internal and
external audiences*
- *Conducting novel research aimed at publishing in a major peer reviewed
journal*
*Qualifications:*
- *Proficiency in SQL with familiarity with advanced techniques
including window functions and complex joins, particularly as it relates to
managing data in Snowflake*
- *Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis through the use of at
least one of the programming tools: Python, R, SAS or Stata*
- *Experience co-authoring peer reviewed journal papers *
*Preferred Experience:*
- *MA in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science or a related field *
- *Graduate level experience in quantitative methods*

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Consult and collaborate with statistical, data science, artificial intelligence (e.g., machine learning), and public health professionals in the collection, linkage, processing, coding, classification, and analysis of public health surveillance, research, and administrative health data.
* Learn and use current data science methods and tools to plan and conduct research using public health data systems, including survey data, health care facility data, syndromic surveillance data, electronic health records, vital records, and non-traditional data sources such as social media and unstructured web-based data.
* Support the development of proposals and projects that align with research and policy goals for data science research and analytic projects, defining the scope and intent of the projects, the data to be used, the analytic approaches and methods, technology resource requirements, timelines and significant milestones, and intended outputs.
* Serve as a data science expert in the analysis and classification of public health surveillance, research, and administrative health data.
* Consult with Center epidemiologists, statisticians, computer scientists, economists, policy analysts, and public health professionals concerning ongoing and established studies or other projects where extensive analytic methodological support or innovation is required.
* Provide technical input to Center analysts and programmers in updating data from multiple sources with appropriate technical documentation.
* Collaborate with Informatics and Information Technology professionals to develop data storage and management systems that enable analysis of large structured and unstructured datasets.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
