CLINICAL DATA MANAGER
SUMMARY
The Hines Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center (CSPCC) has an opportunity for a full-time Clinical Data Manager (CDM) to help advance our research activities – with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of our Veterans. We are seeking someone to be part of a multidisciplinary team on various clinical trials; the Clinical Data Manager supports research protocols starting in study planning, and through the collection, management, cleaning and reporting of clinical trial research data.
Hines CSPCC is located in the near-western suburbs of Chicago at the Hines VA Hospital, adjacent to Loyola University Medical Center. It is a research center for the VA which supports the design, conduct and analysis of national randomized clinical trials. Hines CSPCC was founded in 1974 and has in that time supported clinical trials across a wide variety of medical specialties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with study teams in planning to develop data management plans, case report forms (CRF/eCRF) and associated operational documents.
• Conduct trainings on electronic data capture systems (eDC) for study site coordinators and other research personnel.
• Regular review of submitted data for quality, accuracy, and reliability; generate queries and follow through to data reconciliation.
• Liaise and maintain strong working relationships with study leadership, sites, and internal customers.
• Identify and troubleshoot operational issues in data collection, and work with associated teams to implement solutions.
• Report on trends in timeliness and accuracy of data submission, query resolution, and other internal metrics.
• Ensure compliance with standards for Good Clinical Practice, Federal and VA regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures; document compliance as required.
• Undertake assigned tasks in support of research needs, which may include quality measures development, attending study meetings, assisting in administrative tasks, and consulting with other teams.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTORS
Communication, organization and interpersonal skills are of the utmost importance in daily activities as the incumbent will interact closely with other members of the Statistics and Data Management groups on various clinical projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in a science, health or public-health discipline preferred; or Bachelor’s degree in sciences with at least two years of related experience.
U.S. Citizenship required.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
• Experience with MS Office Suite software
• Experience in data management
• Familiarity with statistical analysis of data
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
