Health
Promotion Graduate Student Worker, Wellness Center (9-Month, 15/hours a week)
The health promotion
graduate student worker (HPGSW) is an extension of the Health Promotion team. The HPGSW will work with staff to plan
innovative programs and interventions for students based assessment data.
Graduate students who are intrigued by the ways public health theory and
student development theory intersect are encouraged to apply. The HPGSW reports
to the Senior Health Educator in the Wellness Center.
Job
Duties
- Assist in designing
and implementing effective education/prevention programs
- Potentially serve as a co-advisor for a peer health
education group out of the Wellness Center
- Assist with
researching health promotion topics and interventions and benchmarking
with other institutions
- Coordinate dissemination
of data in innovative ways
- Publicize program
activities and messages through marketing campaigns and social media
- Assist at
health promotion programs and events
- Prepare
resource packets for survivors of gender-based violence
- Assist with
advocacy volunteer program
- Other duties
as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Must
be a graduate student
- Relevant experience in a healthcare,
educational, or social service setting
- Excellent
communication and organizational skills, task-oriented
- Technical proficiency in use
of computers, software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, and
web content management;
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate
student in education, public health, communication, social work, or related
field
- Experience
working in higher education, peer health education, or gender-based
violence prevention/advocacy
- Experience
working with young adults
- Marketing/Social
Media experience
- Availability
to attend Wellness Advocates meetings (Wednesdays from 3:45-5)
Compensation:
This is
a paid position of $13/hour, but does not
include tuition benefits. Graduate Assistant will work with the Health
Promotion team to create a schedule to work during Wellness Center hours (8am
to 5pm on weekdays), but may be asked to occasionally work evenings and
weekends when large campus events are taking place.
