The City of Evanston Health Department is seeking an Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC) to assist with the city’s COVID-19 emergency responses. The ERC will work with the Health Department and with other City staff.
Days of Operation : 2-3 days a week, 8:30-5pm for 90 days, not to exceed 30 hours per week
NATURE OF WORK Under the general direction of the Director of Health or the Public Health Manager, this person assists with training all Health Department staff, first responders, the public and other allied health care professionals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participates in special surveys and research projects related to emergency planning, surveillance and analysis of data in order to assure public health preparedness. Assists in planning and providing strategies for public health emergency preparedness and City readiness initiatives. Responsible as the department’s liaison to various bio-terrorism, emergency preparedness and disease surveillance task forces and agencies Organizes webinars, conference calls and video calls on a regular basis to convey relevant and pertinent preparedness efforts and best practices. Maintain knowledge of public health preparedness methods and current developments in the area of public health emergencies and response. Performs required procedures in application of the law, policies and regulations pertaining emergency preparedness and response. Analyzes data from various surveillance system and/or special studies; presents information and works closely with stakeholders from other areas of public health, state, federal agencies and health care providers. Provides a report of emergency preparedness and provides guidelines in execution of best emergency response strategies. Acts as a liaison to outside vendors in the design and implementation of emergency preparedness programming. Maintain , manage and recruit Medical Reserve Corps and the MRC database Provides role-specific training related to bio-terrorism for the workforce, especially regarding distribution of the National Pharmaceutical Stockpile. Promotes Public Health Preparedness through internal and external communication resources. Performs various duties in support of health department operations Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Nursing, or a substantially similar area. Possession of a Master’s Degree in Public Health or Nursing is preferred. Must possess one (1) or more years of work experience with Public Health management, emergency preparedness or administration. Work experience in a government setting is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: Excellent facilitation/training, written and verbal communication skills. Excellent planning/organizational skills and experience in coordinating large scale training programs (preferably in a public health care environment). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff as well as the City of Evanston as a whole at all levels including external partner organizations and vendors, leaders of professional associations and health care membership organizations, schools of public health, state and local health departments.
