Management Synergistics, Inc.: Internship Program


Management Synergistics, Inc., a for profit management consulting firm, is seeking an intern to assist the CEO with various health department projects. The ideal candidate will be a master’s student (PhD students preferred) with a degree in public health or related field, have experience and knowledge of HIV/AIDS planning, governance, program implementation and evaluation.

Interns for MSI will be paid $20/hour for their time and have the opportunity to work with the CEO and assist in performing a variety of daily tasks (working primarily from home), such as: traditional office work, keeping files and maintaining their organization; survey monkey development, data collection and analysis; conduct research; writing and editing reports; aiding in preparing memos or other presentation materials (i.e., PowerPoint presentations) for the CEO.

Interns are expected to work independently in completion of assigned tasks and work for and with the CEO in an efficient and organized fashion. Ideal intern candidates should possess the following qualities and skill sets:
• Basic understanding of local and state governance processes and systems
• Passion for public health service and commitment to working for the HIV/AIDS affected population
• Ability to forge and sustain solid professional, working relationships with MSI’s CEO and its clients
• Strong interpersonal communication skills as well as office administration and internet research capabilities
• Ability to attend public health committee meetings and prepare meeting minutes
• Willingness and ability to take direction from CEO and cooperate with clients
• Excellent typing and writing skills
• Proficiency in computer programs essential to office operation and management, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Adaptability and flexibility (i.e., the internship constitutes an average of anywhere from 5 to 10 hours per week or as needed)
• Ability to think quickly and critically
• Above all, a desire to learn and strong work ethic
