Epidemiologist IV Communicable Disease Control & Prevention

JOB SUMMARY                                          
                                      
The Epidemiologist IV functions as the lead epidemiologist in the surveillance and control of general communicable diseases (GCDs), i.e., diseases excluding sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) within suburban Cook County. Coordinates investigative and control activities for any GCD outbreak that may arise. Develops protocols for reducing infection risk and coordinates the investigation and response activities associated with outbreaks as necessary. Responsible for surveillance activities, staff supervision and training, and program
development. Responsible for developing educational materials, fact sheets, guidance documents, investigational questionnaires and other such tools pertaining to communicable disease control, as appropriate. Responsible for the preparation of periodic reports on the incidence of GCDs, outbreak response summaries and responses to requests for investigational summaries under the Freedom of Information Act. Assists in the development of program-specific policies and procedures pertaining to communicable disease control. Responsible for meeting performance standards established by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and for enforcing rules and regulations pertaining to timely reporting of reportable communicable diseases. Provides information and training to healthcare providers on reporting requirements and control measures for communicable diseases. Keeps the management fully informed of pertinent information and follows through on assignments. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


·         Master of Public Health, Master of Science or equivalent with concentration in epidemiology or epidemiology and biostatistics.
·         Proficiency using SAS.
·         Two (2) two years of work experience, including administrative/supervisory/leadership roles in one or more of the following public health programs: communicable disease control, immunizations/vaccine-preventable diseases, sexually transmitted diseases/infections, or HIV/AIDS.
·         Position requires travel throughout Cook County for which the employee must possess a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.
·         Must be available for “on-call” duty as required.
·         Must participate in assigned trainings, including on-line training in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) offered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to obtain the following certifications:
o   Within 6 months of employment: ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, and ICS 800
o   Within 12 months of employment: ICS 300 and ICS 400

Senior Director of HIV Services - Infectious Disease at CCHHS


JOB SUMMARY  
                                                                              
The Senior Medical of HIV Services will lead the Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS) towards ameliorating the regional epidemic of HIV/AIDS and related sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections by ensuring consistent application across CCHHS facilities of: state-of-the-art primary and subspecialty medical care for patients infected with HIV by fully implementing recommended HIV screening and testing practices; and by integrating these services with comprehensive intervention and outreach, sexual and mental health and case management services.   This position is responsible for ensuring coordination of these efforts with those of local, regional, state and federal health departments; with non-CCHHS HIV medical care providers; and with community-based organizations (CBOs) providing relevant services.
