Facing Forward to End Homelessness (Facing Forward) ends the cycle of homelessness for families and individuals by offering hope, help and housing. Facing Forward utilizes a Housing First model which provides permanent supportive housing to chronically homeless individuals, families, and veterans. Under this model, we first ensure that clients have a safe stable home and then we empower them as they lead a forward-facing life. By providing permanent housing and a full array of services, including case management, healthcare, referrals for substance abuse treatment, mental health issues, education and job training, we give people experiencing homelessness in Chicago the tools they need to reclaim their lives.

Administrative Director, IL Coalition for Higher Education in Prison

Under the general guidance of the Executive Director of IPSSJ, the Administrative Director for the IL Coalition for Higher Education in Prison (IL-CHEP) will provide administrative support, project coordination and oversight to IL-CHEP committees. In collaboration with the committees, the Administrative Director will work on different initiatives to support educators and students in and outside of prisons in the state. In collaboration with IL-CHEP’s Steering Committee, the Administrative Director will develop and implement systems and policies related to IL-CHEP’s financial management, budgeting, reporting, etc.

The Administrative Director provides leadership to IL-CHEP and to the university while leveraging industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of IL-CHEP, and of Adler’s Institute of Public Safety and Social Justice Department. Director of Graduate Student Recruitment and Admissions (Oregon State University)

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences is seeking a Director of Graduate Student Recruitment and Admissions. This is a full-time 1.0 FTE, 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

Under the direction of the college leadership, the Director of Graduate Student Recruitment and Admissions oversees graduate student recruitment functions for the College of Public Health and Human Sciences nationally and internationally. The director:
• Is responsible for increasing the number of graduate students enrolled on the Corvallis campus and online (including multiple accredited programs and a new professional program).
• Leads graduate recruitment activities internal to OSU, such as the MPH Pathway program and our college’s existing and proposed accelerated masters programs (AMP).
• Leads graduate recruitment activities external to OSU, such as identifying and communicating with pools of potential students in public health disciplines, human development and family studies, nutrition, and kinesiology, with input from graduate program directors. These activities may include travel to national and international conferences and development of online and print recruitment materials.
• Designs, implements and evaluates the short-term and long-term plans, goals and objectives of the recruiting efforts for graduate students including in-person, online, and hybrid program formats for the college’s large and growing number of graduate programs.

Summer Grad-Internship with Congressional Budget Office

Students must be pursuing graduate academic programs in economics, public policy, health policy, financial management, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Those pursuing a JD or an MBA do not align with this year’s projects and will not be considered. CBO is also unable to consider undergraduate students for the summer internship program. 

Description

The Congressional Budget Office’s summer internship program provides an excellent opportunity for graduate students to experience and observe the budget process and policymaking at the federal level. Though most of CBO’s employees are in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, the internships will be conducted virtually. In-person internships may be possible after July 1 if conditions allow. The internships will begin in late May and last 10 weeks. Interns contribute to CBO’s work in areas such as budget and tax policy, health care, national defense, the environment, education, retirement assistance, other income assistance, regulation, and public investment. In addition, interns participate in an educational program that includes briefings on CBO’s role in the budget process. Manage the operation of the Cancer Survivor Panel Survey Project (“Survivor Views”) designed to assess and provide timely cancer patient perspectives on a broad range of public policy-related issues including cancer prevention, health insurance access, patient cost burdens, research, data privacy and cancer survivorship. This project, along with other survey activities, will inform ACS CAN planning and action with respect to public policy development and advocacy. 18 month duration.

American Heart Association: Public Health Program Manager, National Hypertension Control Initiative

Overview

The National Hypertension Initiative is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health, with funding from the Office of Minority Health and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The National Hypertension Initiative will improve COVID-related health outcomes for highly impacted racial and ethnic minorities by addressing hypertension as a key risk factor. The American Heart Association (AHA) will provide technical assistance to HRSA-funded health centers to increase provider and clinician engagement in implementing evidence-based practices and will also include a community integration component, as well as a national targeted media and public education campaign.

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Public Health Program Manager, National Hypertension Initiative that will serve the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. The Manager must be located in one of the assigned states.

The Public Health Program Manager is responsible for creating and leading capacity building activities for assigned communities in hypertension control and improved health related care. Manager is also responsible for collaborating with and engaging a coalition of key stakeholders/partners and for providing hands-on field consultation, coaching and technical support through account management techniques.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible grant funded position. Current funding is approximately through December 2023.
