Program Manager - Internal Medicine

Position Highlights:             

Responsible for the successful implementation and evaluation of the U.S. POINTER study.  U.S.   This is a nationally and internationally recognized research trial which examines impact of “lifestyle interventions” on protection of cognition (Study Website:  https://alz.org/us-pointer/overview.asp).  Works closely with the study team to develop communications, disseminate information, and implement the study protocol. This position requires judgment and discretion in performing the assigned duties and responsibilities related to the trial.  Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:.            

  • Assume major responsibility for the successful and timely completion of tasks that comprise the evaluation of the U.S. POINTER clinical trial site.  
  • Oversee and conduct data collection and follow-up activities.          
  • Ensure appropriate use and storage of data collection forms, procedural manuals, and other documents required for site implementation and evaluation.
  • Oversee recruitment. 
  • Maintain systems for participation tracking and correspondence.
  • Attend and participate in local meetings related to the planning, operation, and evaluation of the clinical site activities; participate in study committee meetings as needed.
  • Manage the preparation of progress reports and quality control monitoring.
  • Represent the study to all related community agencies and organizations, serving as the site’s liaison, spokesperson, and representative.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the study are conducted in accordance to the study protocol and contract; ensure that all legal aspects adhere to state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Comply with all institutional requirements relative to the conduct of the study; ensure that all technical requirements of the funding agency are met, including auditing requirements.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. 
 
Position Qualifications Include: 

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline in social or basic science preferred.
  • Research coordination experience preferred. 
  • Experience working with older adults preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Knowledge of data recording and procedures in community-based trials desirable.  Knowledge of research trial principles desirable.
  • Must understand and maintain discretion and confidentiality related to all aspects of the study.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and communication skills, including interest and ability to work as part of a team and with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to use one’s time efficiently with minimal direction
  • Must be responsible and self-motivated
  • Off-site travel required.  Access to an automobile in good working condition required.
