Clinical and Health Policy Strategist - AAFP

Possible 10-20 days travel annually

Job Description

This position will provide leadership for the AAFP’s strategy for public health, guidelines, and other aspects of evidence-based medicine and public health. The primary duty will be to staff the AAFP’s Commission on Health of the Public and Science and provide support for the subcommittees on public health issues, health equity, and clinical recommendations and policies. This work requires a strong understanding of the evidence-based policy development process and an ability to work collaboratively with family physicians. Examples of AAFP policies include position papers on health equity, integration of primary care and public health, preconception care, and clinical practice guidelines such as Screening and Treatment of Depression Following Acute Coronary Syndrome. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate and highly skilled team of professionals from the health care and public health sectors that are dedicated to addressing the important health issues facing this nation.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required, and a graduate degree highly preferred in the area of public health, health care administration, or other related disciplines with a background in health policy. In addition, applicants must have 4-6 years of experience with health policy, or scholarly writing.  Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functional groups in a matrixed environment. Team player who can work well with internal teams.
