Job Opening: MPH Director (faculty) at Vanderbilt

The Department of Health Policy at Vanderbilt University's School of Medicine is seeking an innovative, experienced individual committed to excellence in teaching and learning to serve as the Director of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Health Policy and the Senior Associate Dean for Health Sciences Education, the MPH director will assume overall leadership of the program. The director will manage and coordinate the activities that support student recruitment, admission, retention, career development, and alumni engagement, as well as oversee selection of faculty for teaching and mentoring and engage diverse primary and secondary faculty.
Qualified candidates must possess:
·       Education:
o   Doctorate in public health or related field or MD or equivalent clinical degree with public health training
·       Experience:
o   Self-study preparation and knowledge of CEPH accreditation criteria
o   Program assessment and evaluation
o   Teaching public health related topics at the graduate level
·       Evidence of:
o   Excellent administrative/organizational abilities
o   Broad understanding of the field of public health and program review participation
o   Outstanding oral and written communication skills
o   Innovation, leadership, and application of best practices in public health
o   Public health related scholarship, grant writing, and evidence of ability to attract external funding for research
·       Preferred qualities:
o   National reputation in epidemiology, health policy or global health
o   Experience launching and/or leading graduate programs
o   Engagement with local, regional, and national public health professionals
