Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) - COVID-19 testing

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Chicago laboratory is looking for graduate students with real-time PCR and/or epidemiology experience to help the state with COVID-19 testing. 

If you are interested, I have outlined the application process below. 
  1. Go to this link at the IDPH website:   http://dph.illinois.gov/job-opportunity/internship
  2. Click on the "online application form" link under How to Apply?
  3. Fill out your General Information and School Information 
    1. please use your school email: " .edu"
  4. This next part is important, please follow the next instructions carefully
  5. Under Internship Preferences, select the following:
    1. Seeking college credit: No
    2. Type of Internship: Paid
    3. Office of Interest (1st choice): Preparedness & Response
      1. Really, you can put any office. Unfortunately the lab that runs testing is not listed. So why not chose one that sounds interesting to you. 
    4. Office of Interest (2nd choice):  Preparedness & Response
    5. Desired Office Location: Chicago
    6. Hours Available Weekly:   # COVID-19
      1. After the number of hours you are available, type out "COVID-19"
      2. This is how they will know you are specifically looking to help out with testing and pandemic response
    7. Applicant Comments:   I am a graduate student with XXX experience interested in helping the Chicago lab run COVID-19 testing. 
      1. It is important that you type out your interest in the lab, because they do not have this as an option under the "office of interest" section, silly
      2. Please indicate whether you have epidemiology and/or PCR experience
    8. File Attachments:   NOT REQUIRED. The IDPH is not worried about these documents for these purposes. They have expedited this process to get us trained and helping their staff as quickly as possible.
