Disease Specialist

PURPOSE :  Under general supervision, an employee in this class is responsible for performing disease surveillance and related tasks, as well as providing education and counseling to affected individuals, throughout DuPage County. Work involves the ability to assist with the investigation, prevention, and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases; and adhere to the rules and regulations for the control of communicable and sexually-transmitted diseases issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Performs related work as required.  General supervision is provided by the Communicable Disease and Epidemiology Manager.

We are excited to announce the opportunity to work within our Health Promotions department as a Health Promotions  Specialist.  This position will work out of our Wheaton location, 37.5 hours per week, The Health Promotions unit provides outreach and education on a wide range of health topics and is committed to providing resources that will help individuals within DuPage County to make responsible choices on topics such as: mental health, sexual health, substance use prevention, and nutrition. In addition to education, the unit provides marketing communications, graphic design and public information support to the agency.
